WELCOME

I am delighted that you, who are reading these lines, are curious about how documentaries can be part of the curriculum, and how they can help you work with students. How does the film help students see the world around them from a different perspective?

That is why we have worked with our partners for three years to put a complex Toolkit in the hands of educators and other interested users.

My name is Orsolya Komlósi, I graduated from the Doctoral School of the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, where my topic was the impact of documentaries and its analysis. My research at the university is the basis of the MAGIC project and the Toolkit we developed and created together with our partners. The team includes trainers, secondary school teachers, and art educators from Bulgaria, Hungary, Lithuania, and the Netherlands. Almost all the team members come from diverse backgrounds and have varied experiences. We have endeavoured to consolidate all these valuable experiences and perspectives into a unified methodology that can be effectively applied by trainers, teachers, and film professionals across Europe. Thanks to Ed Santman, Ankie Til, Peter van Olmen (C&C), Daan Emmen, Cyrille Montulet, Nadira Jansen, Josje Priester (SKVR), Gabriela Georgieva, Nevena Rogashka, Ivanicka Marinova (National Vocational High School of Veterinary Medicine “Prof. Dr. D. Magic project

It’s truly amazing how, after watching a documentary film together, both teachers and students feel that the experience has given them a whole new perspective on the world around them. The Magic project’s aim is to create tools to make this feeling happen. The project’s primary target group are secondary school teachers, willing to tackle social issues in class and open to using documentary in education. This website based on our community’s practise, experience and creativity.

Teach with documentaries

Working with documentary films in schools can be a valuable and engaging educational tool for teachers and students alike. If you don’t have previous experience in using documentary films as a teaching resource, the MAGIC curriculum provides a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

Be aware! Documentaries can stir emotions! Documentary is our Magic Wand.

Want to be a professional documentary user in your teaching practices?

We offer a 30 hours accredited offline course for educators in Hungary. The course will provide participants with an insight into the complex process of using documentaries as a tool to develop students’ attitudes and knowledge. The techniques learnt will enable them to deliver lessons and activities that promote students’ critical thinking, and deeper understanding of reality and help students to understand the information and messages of documentaries in a meaningful way.

Resources

Would you like to find out more about the science of teaching with documentary films? We’ve gathered everything you need. You’ll find questionnaires to help you choose a topic, sample lesson plans, examples and in-depth supporting materials such as a curriculum, a teacher’s manual, a student feedback manual and a fieldwork manual. The Video Diary presents important recall activities. We also have a handbook for those who want to introduce social issues into the classroom for the first time using other visual techniques.

I found turnkey bitcoin casino useful when we were deciding between several content sources. Do check how updates and new releases are handled, though. Datenschutz ist bei Gesundheitsthemen für mich besonders wichtig. Bei Berlinapothekeonline wurde ich nur nach den Angaben gefragt, die für die Bestellung wirklich nötig sind. Für mich ein klarer Pluspunkt.
